Title:Lobster pot
Date:Sep 1987
Original Size: 50 cm across 30 cm high
Notes: This lobster pot was originally part of the work for my City & Guilds - make a cushion using unusual threads. The first version had a frame of plastic hose, and was filled with bubbles from bubble plastic. That didn't work very well for display, so I threw away the framework, and just kept the cushion. The base has a padded cushion, machine knitted with one layer of transparent threads and one layer sand-colour, with pockets with trapped shells in. I made fish by braiding fabric strips and Christmas lametta, knitted a sea urchin in wool and Christmas tinsel, crocheted stones and sea anemones, and made a lobster by braiding ribbon over plastic packing strips
